Coloring Comparison

Compared to toner coloring, masterbatch coloring has the following distinct advantages:


(1) The environmental pollution problem caused by the flying of the toner is improved, and the color change is easy during use, and it is not necessary to perform special cleaning on the extruder hopper, which is convenient.


(2) Targeted and correct color matching. Since the color masterbatch manufacturing factory has targeted the performance of the applicable resin in the manufacturing process, the pigment (dye), the auxiliary agent, the processing equipment, and the processing technology have been reasonably selected, and the color difference of the different batches of the toner in the production process may be timely. Correction, complementary color, and inspection at the factory, so that the same color of the masterbatch can be guaranteed, the two batches of color remain relatively stable.


(3) Compared with the batch of resin dry dyeing and granulation, the color masterbatch can reduce the resin aging caused by the secondary processing of the plastic products, which is beneficial to the improvement of the service life of the plastic products.


The advantage of using a larger color masterbatch is that during the processing, the pigment masterbatch is fully mixed with the carrier resin under the action of the auxiliary agent. In use, it is placed in a certain proportion of the resin to be processed, and the color master quickly enters the role, and the resin is recognized as "parent". Affinity and compatibility are significantly better than toner coloring, so it is more suitable for manufacturers of film and spinning products.


Of course, color masterbatch coloring also has its limitations. Due to the small amount of addition, the processing time of plastic products is short, which is limited by the length-to-diameter ratio of the screw of the extruder, and the dispersibility of the color masterbatch is often inferior to that of the toner.


With one more manufacturing process, the cost of dyeing must also be higher than the coloring of the toner.


When the carrier in the masterbatch differs from the properties of the resin to be colored, the surface of the plastic product often has undispersed spots, stains, and patterns. Therefore, the use of the masterbatch is limited due to its compatibility and dispersibility. The production process requires a minimum order quantity, and is not suitable for the production of injection molded parts with a small number of non-universal colors.
